Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi addressed a huge election rally in Sikar at poll bound Rajasthan on Wednesday and launched a blistering attack on BJP for misleading people and spreading lies about the state government. She attributed the credit of the rise of Rajasthan as one of the most developed states of India to Ashok-Gehlot-led Congress government in the state.

Sonia Gandhi speaks Congress rally in Chhattisgarh, slams BJP govt for neglecting security

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi launched her campaign in poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Thursday by addressing a huge election rally at Kondagaon in the tribal-dominated Bastar region. She blamed the BJP government's mis-governance in the state for a rise in poverty here. "You have to introspect whether the state government has given you anything," the Congress president said. Chiding the state government for failing to curb Naxal violence, Sonia Gandhi sought to remind the party supporters that "Congress leaders have sacrificed their life in the fight against Naxal violence".

New Delhi: Congress Presidentg and UPa Chairperson Sonia Gandhi addressed a massive Congress rally in Karnataka’s Mandya region where she thanked all the people and the Congress workers for giving a huge mandate to the Congress party in the assembly and the recently concluded Lok Sabha bi-election. “Last time I was here during assembly elections with a request to give Congress a chance. The people of Karnataka put the trust on the Congress party once again a huge mandate to us and I thank all of you for that and also the Congress workers – the men and women- for their hard work” said Sonia Gandhi. “I am confident that the Congress government in Karnataka will respond to the raising aspirations of the people in the state. Our government will deliver on the promises made to the people” said Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress Presidentg and UPa Chairperson Sonia Gandhi addressed a massive Congress rally in Karnataka’s Mandya region where she thanked all the people and the Congress workers for giving a huge mandate to the Congress party in the assembly and the recently concluded Lok Sabha bi-election.

Sonia Gandhi also expressed her support for the Prime Minister and said that the entire Congress party stands behind him as it was under his leadership the UPA Government at the Centre implemented all the welfare policies. Slamming the opposition, the Congress President quipped, “They may make fun of the prime minister but I want them to know that the whole party is behind him". Taking a dig at the opposition – mainly the Bharatiya Janata Party, Sonia Gandhi reiterated that Congress is not afraid of any party. "We are not afraid of the BJP or any other opposition party. We will continue our sincere efforts for the people of Karnataka and the people of the whole country," she asserted.

Praising the Congress Government in the state, Sonia Gandhi spoke about Karnataka government's Anna bhagya scheme (food security to BPL). She claimed that the state government has fulfilled all the promises made in the poll manifesto. The Congress President also referred to the food security bill and land acquisition bill brought in by the UPA Govt at the Centre. Sonia Gandhi asserted that UPA's land acquisition bill will work as safeguard to farmers of the country.

More than two lakh people had attended the meeting. Former chief minister SM Krishna, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dr. G Parameshwar were also seated on the dais.

PM, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi visit Rajesh Verma's residence in Muzaffarnagar (UP)

Muzaffarnagar: Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and party vice president and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi visited riot-affected localities in Muzaffarnagar district on Monday. They visited some relief camps where riot-hit people are taking shelter. They were briefed about the situation in the district by the officers in-charge. They also visited the relief camps in Bassi Tala and Taawlil villages. They also visited journalist Rajesh Verma's home to meet the family members. Rajesh was killed in the riots.

Muzaffarnagar: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh accompanied by Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress Vice President and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi visited riot-affected localities in Muzaffarnagar district in  Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

PM, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi visited the relief camps set up in the riot-hit district and met riot victims.  Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi also interacted with the riot-victims at Vasipur Kalan. Prime Minister during a brief interaction with the media said that the Centre would extend all possible support to the state government to restore normalcy in the region. They also visiting some other riot-hit areas too during the visit.

A meeting of the National Integration Council (NIC) has also been convened on September 23 to discuss the increasing communal incidents.

The PM's scheduled visit to Muzaffarnagar and the NIC meeting which will be attended by all union ministers and chief ministers reflects the Centre's concern. The PM's last visit to riot-affected areas was in Assam last year.

Manmohan's visit to Muzaffarnagar comes a day after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav toured few of the riot-hit villages. However, wherever Akhilesh went, anger followed him. The CM promised government jobs and swift justice to the victims but got a tepid response from locals.
