Rahul Gandhi in Meerut says BSP, SP ignored Bunkars, Bundelkhand

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while speaking at a public rally in Meerut said that all the non-Congress parties ignored the people of Uttar Pradesh.

 “What did we do? We came to you and asked about your difficulties. You had told us that there are no sufficient jobs available in the villages. The people are forced to migrate to big cities for jobs. So the first thing we did was to implement MNREGA, the biggest employment guarantee scheme, to guarantee jobs for all. By this biggest employment generation scheme poor are assured of jobs if they intend to work. Every poor is assured of 100 days of work at a daily wages of Rs 120 thus amounting to Rs 12,000 a year,” said Rahul Gandhi on UPA’s Mahatma Gandhi NREGA policy.

“Then we went to the farmers and asked about their problems. They told us that the doors of the banks are closed for them and many of them are being burdened with huge loans. The Centre took necessary measures to open the doors of the banks for the farmers and also framed a policy to waive off loan of the poor farmers worth Rs. 60000 crore” informed Rahul Gandhi.

 “When drought-hit Bundelkhand was crying for help neither Mayawati Ji nor Mulayam Ji went there. BJP too ignored them. I had personally requested the Chief Minister to kindly go there. But she refused,” said Rahul Gandhi.  

On Bunkars relief package he said “Bunkars in U.P had approached me. They pleaded for assistance as they face a lot of difficulties. They informed that they had approached both SP and BSP but no one listened to them. They also shared that they are not able to secure loan from anywhere. We took them to the Prime Minister and the Centre approved a relief package for the Bunkars. We introduced a Bunkar credit card and also helped them to get loan upto two lac rupees”.

BSP and BJP neglected development of UP: Congress (I)

Congress (I) has lashed out on both BSP and BJP for playing with the sentiments of the people of Uttar Pradesh and for seeking votes on the basis of caste and creed. Both these parties have been working desperately for grabbing power in the state without having any agenda for development of the state, said Congress (I). Both these parties during their tenure in office undertook only those works in which they got kick-backs. Their greed for money and power has ruined the state over last twenty years. Industry which was once flourishing in the state is now on the verge of closure. In the name education there are only schools but educational standard has come down instead of rising high. Youth are unemployed both in rural and urban areas. Mayawati has been so negligent about health care services that NRHM funds to the tune of crores of rupees were looted by ministers, state officials and drug mafia by entering into conspiracy. Having suffered so much under BJP and BSP people of UP are now looking towards Congress (I) to unleash an era of all round development in the Pradesh, said Congress (I).

Congress says there is open corruption in Uttar Pradesh

The disgraced management of social welfare scheme’s implementation in the heart of India is a truth wide open and the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh has been strongly held guilty for the fiasco. What more the crime graph in the state has been on a steep rise since the ruling state government came to power.

The Indian National Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said Mayawati and her administration are holding press conferences as a symbol of guilt regarding grave charges of embezzlement of funds in relation to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

"The national crime record bureau released for 2010 puts the crime rate as the highest in Uttar Pradesh. I am not taking you to the details but roughly 33 percent plus of all crimes registered in the county are registers in Uttar Pradesh," said Singhvi.

The murky dealings in the state has to be checked or else the under privileged will remain in their ‘natural’ state. If governments at large want to make a difference in the lives of those in grave need, they have to step forward, and the Mayawati government has to do it in a big way.
