Sonia Gandhi: If we work as a unit and in the right direction we will get public mandate again

Congress President Sonia Gandhi while speaking on the last day of the Congress chintan shivir in Jaipur on Sunday said that there was no reason the party should not get public mandate again if it works in the right direction.
"There is only 15 months left for the elections. I am confident, if we work in the right way and are united, there is no reason we should not get public mandate again," Sonia Gandhi said addressing the last day of Congress' 'Chintan Shivir' or introspective meet at the Rajasthan capital.
The Congress President also said that discipline and unity was needed, and also added that party members should publicise the good work done by the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government. "Several states are also going to polls. I think our biggest challenge is to be disciplined and united and present ourselves to people. The victory of the party is the victory of all of us," Sonia Gandhi said.
"We must tell the people of our country about our achievements. The government gives information from its side, but the party organisation should also publicise it," added Sonia Gandhi.
The 'Chintan Shivir' which began on Jan 18 focussed on chalking out a strategy for the 2014 general elections.

Remove BJP, elect Congress: Urges Sonia Gandhi in Uttarakhand

Congress President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi while speaking at a big public meeting in Uttarakhand said that a mere change in leadership in the state is not enough, what the state needs is a regime change.
"If the land, soil, water and hills of Uttarakhand are sold or leased at throwaway prices, then it is not progress but a fraud on the people of the state” said Sonia Gandhi. “For the last many years, this fraud is being played with the people of Uttarakhand and efforts are being made to hide this loot and dishonesty through various means," added the Congress President.
The UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi also used the occasion to reach out to the Muslims and Dalits, who have a significant presence in the state.  Sonia Gandhi promised government-sponsored computer education for madrasa students, and a package for Dalits.
Sonia Gandhi also sought to make light of BJP's decision to replace Nishank with Khanduri months before the polls, and asserted that the state government could not hide corruption. "The mask of honesty of the then chief minister slipped. BJP changed its chief minister, but could not change its deeds," said Sonia Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi attacks SAD-BJP opportunistic alliance

The Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi termed the present ruling alliance of BJP and SAD as opportunistic. She said that they were together just to hang on to power. “Instead of looking into their own failures, the government was attempting to shift the blame on the Centre, which had always been liberal and generous with sanctioning development grants” said Sonia Gandhi.
Referring to the aata-daal scheme of the State government, Sonia Gandhi said that it was 100 per cent financed by the Congress-led Central Government. “This government cannot do a single thing on its own as it had no money and for every activity, including development projects, they are totally dependent on the Government of India funding” said the Congress President.
Referring to Kapurthala's historic importance, Sonia Gandhi said it had a long history spanning over 1100 years. The Congress President recalled that Guru Nanak had prayed for 14 years, got enlightenment to lead and guide the entire humanity at the place where now stands Gurdwara Beri Sahib near the rally site.

BJP Government in Uttarakhand never serious on Central schemes: Sonia Gandhi

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi alleged that that the BJP Government in the state did nothing for the progress of the state and instead cheated the people. Taking a dig at BJP she said what Uttarakhand requires is a change in the Government.

We framed policies like Rajiv Gandhi Electrification Scheme,  Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, National Rural Health Mission, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, Mid-day meal scheme, Gram Sadak Yojana, Self Help Group scheme for women aiming for the benefits of the people” said Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
“All the states ruled by the Congress has been implementing these policies properly and reaping the benefits. But the Government here in Uttarakhand is not serious in this matter.
