Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi while addressing the the AICC session at New Delhi's Talkatora Stadium, gave a clear signal that the party is ready and prepared for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. "This election will see a sharpened contest between conflicting ideologies between conflicting interpretations of the past and between clashing visions of the future. It will be a battle for India as it was conceived by our founding fathers and as we cherish. It will be a battle for the preservation of our age old secular traditions of diverse communities living harmoniously in one composite national identity".

Sonia Gandhi launches Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana
Nagpur: Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi underlined that Congress-led UPA Government is committed for the welfare of common man. She was addressing a function after launching Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana (RGJAY) - a health insurance scheme for poor families in Maharashtra.Sonia Gandhi said that the Congress-led UPA government was committed to provide better healthcare facilities to aam aadmi, particularly the poor, rural women and children. The Congress-led Government in Maharashtra was doing a yeoman service for people, who will greatly benefit from the health plan, said the Congress President. Sonia Gandhi praised the state government for extending the project, which was launched on a pilot basis last year in eight districts, to the remaining 27 districts.

No, because the state Government misused it and issued fraud job cards. The jobs which should have gone to the rural poor were taken up by the contractors".

Sonia Gandhi takes part in the Dussehra celebrations at Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi
Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh attended the Dussehra celebrations at the famous Ramlila maidan. The leaders shot the arrows at the effigy of Raavana at the function in Ramlila Grounds. Tens of thousands of people converged on this occasion to witness one of the biggest commemorations of Dussehra at Delhi's popular Ramlila Maidan and Subhash Maidan. Sonia Gandhi greeted the people on Dussehra and wished that the festival brings peace, prosperity and progress throughout the country. Dussehra was celebrated with deep fervour and enthusiasm in different parts of Delhi and in other parts of the country on Wednesday.

Sonia Gandhi in Raebareli lays foundation stone of rail wheel plant at Lalganj (UP)
Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi accompanied by her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, laid the foundation stone of an ambitious rail wheel manufacturing unit in Lalganj at Raebareli. This factory will be the biggest of its kind in the country. The unit will come up within the coach manufacturing unit already functioning in the region.
"We know that employment generation is possible only if there is progress. Development takes the country forward and brings positive changes in our life. I hope that this factory also will play a big role towards development of this region" said Sonia Gandhi while addressing the gathering.
