Priyanka Gandhi Vadra: Reject those politicians who negate you
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who has been campaigning in Amethi and Raebareli urged the voters to support Congress for the welfare of the people and development of the state. She said that the non-Congress political parties did nothing for the state or the people and the state of U.P slipped backward in the past 22 years.
Priyanka Gandhi addressed the meeting in Inhuana, Tiloi by saying “It is going to be one ‘o clock. I will not trouble you much. All of you are aware that elections are on 19th. Dr. Muslim is the Congress candidate from here for the third successive elections. Last time you defeated him by about 500 votes and by 900 votes before that. Now I hope that you will help him win by thousands of votes”.
“ I am confident for this because I know how much development was done and people’s problems were heard by your MLA. You know better than me.. Whatever developments took place here was done either by your MP or by the Central Government. Neither your MLA nor the state Government did anything for you. By electing Dr. Muslim as your MLA you will have the benefit that both the MP as well as your MLA would be of the same party (Congress)” added Priyanka Gandhi.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra kick-starts her second leg of campaign in U.P
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra started her second leg of campaign for Congress from Gauriganj assembly segment which belongs to Amethi Parliamentary constituence from where Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is the Member of Parliament.
Priyanka Gandhi during a quick interaction with the press at Jamon quipped, "I have been asked to look after the 10 assembly constituencies of Amethi and Rae Bareli, and I am doing that".
On the first day of her five-day tour, the charismatic Congress campaigner urged people to vote for change in the state where politics over the last 22 years had become religion and caste-based. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra covered 160 km, stopped at over 60 places and addressed 11 meetings, all in Gauriganj.
With her attractive smile all day long Priyanka Gandhi gently reprimanded voters. "You did not pay heed to my request in 2007. You had to suffer for the past five years. The MLA is constructing a big bungalow. The situation is bad here." She added, "Vote for change. Not for Rahul or the Congress, but for the future of your children."
Vadra spoke of an old temple near the meeting ground at Pindara. "I used to come here as a child. Now I have two children. They go to good schools. But the children here do not have good schools. When I come here after 22 years from now, my children would have got good jobs, but these children will be here only."
Going beyond the speech, Priyanka Gandhi turned her public meetings into a question-answer relay. "What is the meaning of politics?" she asked her audience. To serve people, she replied. "What is the importance of casting votes?" she asked again with a quick answer ‘It gives you power to change’.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Balbhadrapur, Amethi (U.P) on 3 Feb 2012
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra “Rahul Gandhi is committed to remove the backwardness of U.P”
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra kick-started her second leg of campaign in Amethi and Raebareli by addressing a meeting at Balbhadrapur in Amethi on Friday.
“You know that this is election time and people come to you seeking your support. I too have come (laughs). I had sought your support in 2007 too, but you did not honour my request. What did you get in five years? The roads you see were built by the Centre. The facilities for water also were given by the Centre. What did your MLA do? Definitely he did one thing; he built a luxurious bungalow for himself and that too with your money. This state of affairs is not the case of your place only; the entire U.P is like this,” said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra starting her address.
“I had met my fellow workers last week. One Congress worker told me that the MLA here has not indulged in assaulting anybody; didn’t send anyone to jail, not victimized anyone, did not grab lands of others. And more importantly he hasn’t got anyone assassinated. This is the situation here,” she added.
“The people here are deprived off their rights. The narrow politics in the past 22 years have destroyed the state. The politics here thrives on divisive ideologies. Now you please think yourself”, urged Priyanka Gandhi.
“Who is a leader? He should be your servant. He should have been among you and not on the stage. It is very sad that you are forced to beg for your rights,” she told.
“When you will realize this? When you will wake up? You suffered for the past 22 years. They betrayed you in the name of caste and religion. Where is the development here? You go to Maharashtra or Andhra Pradesh and experience the progress there. You can understand what the meaning of development is. Young people of Uttar Pradesh are forced to go to those places and work there,” wondered Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
“Now you have a chance after 22 years to change the state of affairs. You know Rahul Ji. He is very stubborn. He has been working hard and putting in all tremendous effort. I once asked Rahul Ji what he would get by putting this much amount of hard work. He responded that he is never bothered about the election results. Uttar Pradesh is now backward and he wants to bring in positive changes,” she informed.
“Now this is the time to think about a change. This is not the question of pride and honour of my family. But it is the question of your prestige. It is the question of the future of your children. So think yourself. It is evident that no satisfactory development took place in your region. Think about your region as well as your state. Strengthen the hands of Congress. You will witness how the state progresses,” urged Priyanka Gandhi.
“During elections many parties and leaders come to you. I also do come (laughs). But you have the wisdom to understand the real intention of the parties and its leaders. You have the strength. Nothing will happen without the power of the people. The assembly elections are on 15th February. Think for a positive change and think about strengthening Congress. You will have a MLA who understands your problems and to solve those. Thank you. Jai hind,” she concluded.
