Rahul Gandhi: We understand genuine feelings of UP people

Highlighting to the people of Uttar Pradesh the misrule of alternate governments of Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said, "You gave twenty two years to all these parties. What did you get? Mulayam Singh came. He talked about caste. Then Mayawati came. She also talked about caste. These parties manipulated government to serve their own and their parties’ interests, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the Congress in Uttar Pradesh where assembly polls are going to beging in February 2012. Common man is feeling cheated and annoyed with these parties, he added.  Referring to his frequent visits to villages, staying in houses of poor and sharing food with them, Rahul Gandhi said this had given him first hand knowledge of hardship poor people face in their daily lives. But this was ridiculed by some parties who are disconnect with poor people and do not consider the poor worthy of attention, he said. “Give Congress (I) five years; we will show that we can transform this state", said Rahul Gandhi adding that Congress (I) will work for all the people irrespective of their caste or religion.
