Blaming Mayawati for ignoring critical issues being faced by people in their daily lives, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she failed to provide good governance to the people. She ignored burning issues like corruption, crime, farmers’ agitation against forcible land acquisition, deficient health care services, non-development activities and alarming unemployment, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting for the upcoming Assembly elections in February 2012 as part of his campaign for the Congress. After she became the Chief Minister she stopped meeting the general public. Her sole business has been to amass wealth. Her greed for wealth is said to be proverbial. UP Lokayukta is looking into complaints against her for having illegally amassed wealth and construction of lavish farmland said to be beyond the means of income of garib ki beti. Urging the voters not to believe her words anymore, Rahul Gandhi appealed them to give this time a chance to his party to form government. He promised that Congress (I) would put an end to this crooked situation and promised a pro-poor, pro-development governance in Uttar Pradesh.
