Slamming the Uttar Pradesh government for ignoring the welfare of poor and the development of the state, Congress (I) has said Mayawati has all along been working for herself and her party at the cost of people. As a result plight of the poor people remain as it was before. Uttar Pradesh remains the most backward state. Corruption and crime is rampant. Congress (I) has said nothing can be got done without paying bribe. Even in police station for lodging a FIR bribe is demanded. People are fed up with this atrocious situation all over the state. Ministers and legislators are themselves involved in corruption and crime cases and misusing their official position to make money. Lokayukta has indicted a number of Mayawati’s cabinet ministers and legislators for corruption. But Mayawati simply dropped them instead of taking stringent action against them. Congress (I) has said instead of dropping the ministers one by one it is better if Mayawati - the source of all corruption – resign herself so that people may feel a sigh of relief.
