The Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has criticised the BJP’s election manifesto of 2009 general elections. He was addressing a people’s meet held at Dumariyagunj in Uttar Pradesh on day 4 of his much talked about UP tour.
The Congress MP from Amethi came sharp against the BJP’s election manifesto slogan in the last general elections in 2009. The BJP had put forward the slogan, “India Shining”. He said the slogan didn’t make any sense as the whole of India rather more of India is not actually shining.
“There’s development in India but not much in the villages. India cannot shine till every person in India is not poor. It will shine the day there won’t be any poor. They sit in studios and argue. They fly in helicopter. Yes, it’s shining indeed - in their house, in their AC car. But it’s shining in not in village,” said the Youth Congress icon.
The Congress leader has been speaking to the people at various public meets and rallies being held in this UP tour of his and the earlier ones. He has been emphasizing the need for the leaders especially those in the government and understand the ground reality so that problems could be solved in a better way.
Rahul Gandhi’s efforts could be seen expanding in the recent times. Before this tour of the north eastern districts, he had been visiting several villages across UP to ascertain the problem of the poor and suggesting them to take some strong decisions.
