For the first time, Congress' UP campaign will hardsell Brand Rahul as the party's future leader. If the initial print advertisements are anything to go by, Rahul's image will dominate the space alongside a hard-hitting slogan against past governments in UP. The smaller images of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan in these advertisements/posters will underline their supporting role.
Rahul is an icon of the youth, who make up a significant percentage of the electorate. His credibility is unchallenged and he is a clean, firm and committed leader who is going all out to connect with the weaker sections and the man on the street. What more, Rahul has the legacy and genes to envision a healthy and development-oriented state.
