Congress (I) has said that it is irony that Mayawati’s MLA instead of serving the people of Uttar Pradesh have turned extortionists, rapists and murders. Shekhar Tiwari is the third sitting MLA in Uttar Pradesh to have been convicted of murder since 2005. He is close to a senior brahmin leader of BSP, Tiwari joined BSP when Mayawati played brahmin card. He contested assembly election on BSP ticket and won in 2007. Congress (I) says that Tiwari's main business, according to police, was grabbing government contracts and extortion. There were 14 cases against him before he became MLA. However, he could not escape law in the murder case of public works department executive engineer Manoj Kumar Gupta. Congess (I) has all along been saying that Mayawati’s is running most corrupt government in the country. Political analysts estimate that 80% of BSP legislators are corrupt. That is why people of the Uttar Pradesh are suffering and there is urgent need to ‘oust’ the corrupt Mayawati government, said Congress (I).
