Congress: Mayawati functioning arrogantly

Congress (I) has said recently people of Uttar Pradesh saw another outburst of Mayawati when she without following any legal procedure she said her minister was not involved in rape and was innocent. A woman had made a complaint to police that she was raped by the particular minister in Mayawati government. The minister being favorite of BSP supreme, Mayawati flew into anger. She said the minister was innocent and the complaint was motivated and had been filed to harass her government in the wake of ensuring Assembly elections in the state early 2012. Congress (I) said this was most bizarre on the part of Chief Minister Mayawati. The curse of the Indian police is political interference. A chief minister has no legal authority to prevent the investigation of a crime. The constitutional privilege to the members of the state assembly does not apply to an accused in a rape case, said Congress (I). Such incidents clearly demonstrate that Mayawati is functioning arrogantly.
