Sonia Gandhi: RTI empowered people to expose scams

Highlighting the achievements of Congress (I) party President Sonia Gandhi has said her party through Right to Information Act, empowered the people with a key to expose scams. This has enabled them to challenge the non-responsive administrative authorities, she said. Congress (I) is committed to address and solve the causes of the common man, she further said adding that Congress (I) has brought number of measures for the welfare of poor people and reforms in administration and economic sphere. It was Congress (I) which has brought Right to Education for children, Women Reservation Bill, Mahatma Gandhi NREGA for providing guaranteed employment to rural poor, NRHM for improving health care services, Janani Sauraksha Yojana for encouraging institutional delivery of pregnant women. Although some parties like BJP did not support passing of the strong Lokpal Bill in the Parliament, Congress (I) will not rest till the Lokpal Bill becomes reality, said Sonia Gandhi.
